In the next addition of this series, we will investigate two, new ‘seeing through rock’ systems, one formed around Dense Media Separation (DMS) and another working with a new form of digital terrain models (DTM). But this software is jaw dropping. It comes with two new acronyms you’ll have to wait to learn about. We’ll get that information from a great source, too: Dr. John Bristow, CEO of the Global Diamond Network from the City of Johannesburg. We’ll also learn what a UAV drone is andv why they are the next must have in diamond mining. ◊ Dan Scott is the founder and brand architect of New York/metro’s Luxe Licensing, a digital original content production facility, marketing and licensing agency catering to established, newly launched or relaunched luxury and demi-fine brands. While we acquired an official image of the US Army X-ray goggles (attached to a helmet) - apparently the helmet helps store the battery, wiring, and protects the head and brain from toxic radiation, even though these futurist specs are only good for a few feet of solid mass visual penetration and don’t appear to generate any measurable life threatening radiation. The ‘4D’ is more marketing than reality as the human eye can not see in four dimensions, actually it’s our brain that can’t process the extra level. Some think the goggles should have been branded 4k as the mind (and eyes) can process 4k resolution, but that is something these X-ray goggles are far from. Images are said to appear more like night vision but with high clarity and no motion blur. Either way, miners could put these to work asap. Breaking Ground Without Overturning a Stone Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is a laser-based highly advanced technology. This one has maintained the US governments’ upper hand in all things cutting edge and on its own merit. Initially created for a space mission, LiDAR, is a non- intrusive, remote sensing method used to first examine the surface of the Earth but quickly moves to scan any mass or dense area that could be miles thick. LiDAR obtains precise geo-referenced datasets and when used with drones, is a incredible tool for penetrating densely vegetated areas, hazardous or otherwise impossible to get overhead or POV angles with laser pinpoint assessments. A 378-carat white natural diamond, the second major stone found thus far at the Karowe mine in Botswana. Very impressive, but exceptionally large and very valuable natural diamonds stones seem to be unearthed on a somewhat regular basis. Once, a 228.31-carat pear-shaped diamond from South Africa was Christie’s finest auctioned gemstone “to every go on the Christie’s auction block,” according to Christie’s international head of jewelry, Rahul Kadakia. The gem he spoke of did break a record years back, until same auction house sold a 163.41-carat white diamond for $33.7 million recently, Photo: Karowe Mining Operations
